Led by award-winning, certified professional photographer and industry educator Amber Henry—recognized with first-place honors from the Association of International Boudoir Photographers (AIBP)—our private studio in Saginaw, Michigan is a space intentionally created for women, by women. This is a luxury boudoir experience where you’ll feel comfortable to be, and proud to share… and probably even brag about.

Commonly Asked Questions

1. What should I wear?
You can bring anything that makes you feel confident—lingerie, bodysuits, oversized shirts, even nothing at all. I will ask you to send me outfit photos or inspo during our conversation so we can make sure your session is styled beautifully

2. Do I need to know how to pose?
Not at all! I’ll guide you through every pose, down to your fingertips. You’ll never be left wondering what to do.

3. I’m nervous about my body—can I still do this?
Absolutely. Boudoir is for every body, every age, every shape. My job is to pose, light, and guide you in a way that highlights your unique beauty, not everyone else's.

4. Will my images be retouched?
Yes. Your final selected images will be professionally retouched. There are many levels of retouching- from soft natural to full glam, and you get to decide. I always enhance lighting, smooth skin, and remove distractions but you will have the final say in editing.

5. Is hair and makeup included?
It can be! I have a professional hair and makeup artist who can be added onto your session. This is great for ladies that are not comfortable applying their own makeup to those who just want to be more pampered.

6. Where does the shoot take place?
All sessions are held in my private, all-female studio located in Saginaw. It’s fully equipped with multiple sets and professional lighting for your chosen look.

7. How much does it cost?
The session fee starts at $75 per set, which also includes your planning consult, full guided session, and your private image reveal appointment when your images are ready. Images, prints and products are sold separately. This way you only purchase what you love. No sales pressure whatsoever. Choose from the A La Cart menu or Collections. Discounted Collections begin at $990.

8. Will my photos be shared online?
Only with your written permission. I completely respect your privacy. Some clients choose to keep their images for themselves or their partner while others love seeing themselves shining bright to inspire other women.

9. Can I bring a friend for support?
Of course! You’re welcome to bring a female friend for encouragement. Just let me know in advance so we can make space.

10. What kind of products can I order?
I offer luxury albums, digital collections, wall art, and discreet keepsake boxes. Everything is designed to last a lifetime—and you’ll see samples during your reveal.

Hello! I'm Amber, I'm a photographer of almost 20 years and first and foremost a woman who is a leader in the photographic industry.

My goal with Starla Dear was creating a space that is fun, safe, beautiful, and most of all, body-positive, where you can experience the luxury and comfort of a professional studio that feels more like self-care then a photo shoot. I want you to let go of society's expectations and rediscover your inner confidence.

As a female photographer I know how hard it is to put yourself in front of the camera - or to put yourself first in anything really! I have spent my career training how to properly light, pose, and guide women in a way that flatters every curve, because I want to capture YOU and your authentic beauty.This isn’t just a photoshoot. This is a moment to reconnect with the beautiful version of you that’s often placed last. It’s about confidence, celebration, and stepping fully into your power.
